Public to help spend £500k on Hull streets
- Published
Residents and shop owners are being encouraged to have their say on the future of the Stepney area of Hull.
The Beverley Road part of Stepney was earmarked by the government for the High Street Accelerator project which launched in March.
Improvements could include tackling anti-social behaviour and graffiti, along with better signs and seating areas.
Four pop-up sessions have been arranged at Beverley Road Baths for members of the public to discuss the scheme with council staff.
The national scheme is aimed at attracting footfall by working with local businesses and residents to create change.
Between now and 31 March 2025, the area has been allocated £187,000 for high street improvements.
It has been awarded a further £500,000 for green improvements.
Ideas could also include community events and colourful murals.
Four pop-up sessions have been planned at Beverley Road Baths, starting on 3 June from 13:00 until 15:00 BST.
On 6 and 12 June, sessions will run from 10:00 until 12:00. The last one is on 13 June from 13:00 until 15:00.
A survey was also launched last week to give those who live, work and shop in the area the opportunity to shape the future of Stepney.
Staff from Hull City Council will be at the event to assist with the survey and discuss the project with members of the public.
The area is one of 10 national pilots given the High Street Accelerator status by the government.
