More than 9,200 cannabis plants were confiscated by police in Leicestershire last month.

Officers carried out 47 searches on properties around the county throughout June.

Leicestershire Police said the drugs had a street value of £7m, with 40 people arrested and 29 subsequently charged with drugs offences.

The force said it was working as part of a national operation targeting the growing and selling of cannabis across the UK.
