A sculpture trail that has previously raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity will feature hares, it has been revealed.

Run by St Elizabeth Hospice, the "Hop to it! Hares for the Hospice" trail will include 38 hare sculptures across Ipswich, Beccles, Felixstowe, Lowestoft and Woodbridge.

The hospice ran its first trail in 2016 and has previously scattered sculptures of owls, elephants and pigs across the local area - but mainly in Ipswich.

Celia Joseph, community and partnerships fundraising manager, said: "With our services continuing to expand throughout Suffolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, we were keen for our latest trail to reflect the help and support we give to local people."

The hospice's third trail - The Big Hoot, held in 2022 - featured 50 owls, which were then auctioned off. They raised more than £270,000.

Next summer, 38 decorated hares will be placed around the east of the county.

Ms Joseph said: "It has been a closely guarded secret for many months now, but we are so excited to fully reveal Suffolk will be home to a number of beautifully designed hare sculptures, in support of the hospice, in summer 2025.

"We hope this will excite trail enthusiasts and encourage many people to see the sculptures and explore our beautiful county."
