Flats plan approved on site of former social club

Plans have been approved to build 20 new flats on the site of a former social club.
Sheffield City Council backed the project on the site of the former St Cuthbert’s Family Social Club on Horndean Road.
JEM Developments Ltd wanted to create three one-bed studios, 12 one-bedroom flats, three two-bedroom flats and two three-bed flats.
The land, opposite the Northern General Hospital, has been vacant for 17 years, despite planning consent being granted on two previous occasions.
Although 20 flats are proposed, only eight parking spaces would be provided, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
The planning document said: “This level of parking is considered to be appropriate for the size and type of the proposed units as well as car ownership within the local area.”
