A woman has been arrested eight years after a man died from injuries he received during a robbery at his home.

Tommy Ward, 80, was found badly beaten at the property on Salisbury Road, Maltby, Rotherham, on 1 October 2015. He died five months later.

Police said a safety deposit box containing around £30,000 in cash, the former miner's life savings, was also taken during the incident.

A force spokesperson said a woman, 36, from Rotherham, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Mr Ward died on 23 February 2016 and his death was determined to have been the result of the injuries he had received during the assault at his home.

Police said since then 10 men and one woman have been arrested on suspicion of various offences, but all were released with no further action taken.
