Overseas aid charities will be showcasing their work to shoppers at a special event in Guernsey.

Guernsey Overseas Aid & Development Commission (GOADC) is hosting a gathering of international development charities based in Guernsey during late-night shopping in St Peter Port on Thursday.

Seven charities, including Christian Aid Guernsey, Eleanor Foundation and Fairtrade Guernsey, will be upstairs at the Health Connections Shop in Market Square from 17:00 to 20:00 GMT.

Fairtrade Guernsey will also be providing free tee and coffee to everyone who drops by.

GOADC president Deputy Chris Blin said: "It amazes me how many international development charities are based in Guernsey considering the size of our population, as well as the life-changing work they undertake all around the world."

Charities were involved in provision of food and water, sanitation and hygiene, healthcare and education.

Blin added: "It is an opportunity to celebrate these charities and for the public, in one location, to learn more about what they do and possibly how they can help."
