A bus company is celebrating serving part of the East of England for 40 years.

Stagecoast East began life in 1984 as Cambus, which is still the legal name for the company running its buses Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

To mark the anniversary, parties have been held for staff at its three Cambridgeshire depots - Cambridge, Fenstanton, and Peterborough - as well as its depot in Bedford.

The company is hoping customers will join in by sharing any pictures they might have from its history.

A specially-painted heritage bus, sporting the original Cambus colours, has visited the depots, handing out cakes and commemorative badges to staff.

Darren Roe, managing director of Stagecoach East, said: "We are hugely proud to serve our communities in Cambridgeshire and beyond.

"Cambus has been a fixture here for 40 years and we look forward to bringing people together, across the East, for the next 40 years and more."

He added: "It just highlights the fact that we have such history and so much acquired knowledge in the region – we know every tight bend and every overhanging tree - and we have such pride to be at the heart of our communities in this dynamic and forward-looking region."

The company hopes people will share memories and photographs of the company using the hashtag #Cambus40.
