Pedestrian fatally struck by vehicle on motorway

A pedestrian was killed after being hit by a car on a motorway.

The man was struck on the southbound carriageway of the M42, between junctions 4, the Monkspath Interchange, and 3a Umberslade Interchange, at 23.09 GMT, on Sunday, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

He was confirmed dead at the scene, the service said.

West Midlands Police said the man's next of kin had been informed, and his death was not being treated as suspicious.
