Man cut on cheek during knifepoint robbery

A man was cut on the cheek by an attacker who threatened him at knifepoint.

The victim said he was walking along the footbridge by Westgate Street in Gloucester when a man came up from behind him, put a knife to his neck and demanded his laptop.

The attacker swiped a knife at the victim during the incident on Wednesday, causing a small cut to his cheek, and took his laptop.

Gloucestershire Police is appealing for witnesses to come forward.

The force was called to the incident shortly after 03.25 BST on Wednesday.

A 32-year-old man from Gloucester, who matched a description given by the victim was arrested on suspicion of robbery following searches of the area, and was later released on bail.

The cut the man sustained did not need medical treatment.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone who may have filmed the incident on their mobile phone or has dashcam or CCTV footage.
