A man has been charged with attempted murder and having an axe and wooden bat following a "serious" assault on the A2 near Canterbury, Kent Police say.
People from a car were assaulted on the London-bound carriageway near the exit for the A28 at Wincheap at about 05:40 GMT on 14 December and two men were taken to hospital, police said.
The force said two men were arrested in north London on Tuesday.
Dawood Khan, 28, from Burnt Oak, London, was subsequently charged with attempted murder, causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and two counts of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
Police say a 27-year-old man, who was also arrested, has been released on bail.
Mr Khan is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on 3 March.
Anyone with information about the incident is being asked to contact Kent Police.
