Arrested man bailed after late-night blaze at flats

A man who was arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at a block of flats in West Sussex has been bailed pending further enquiries.

Emergency services were called to the blaze at The Waterfront, off Eirene Road, in Goring-by-Sea at about 02:00 BST on Monday.

Residents of the flats were evacuated and work is ongoing to provide temporary accommodation for those unable to return home.

A 60-year-old man from Worthing was arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life and has since been bailed, police said.

Police said an investigation into the circumstances of the fire were ongoing.
