Driver seriously injured after collision with tree

A man is in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries, after colliding with a tree while driving.

It happened at the junction of the A30 and the B3167 Roman Road near Cricket St Thomas, in Somerset, at around 23:00 BST on Saturday.

Avon and Somerset Police said the road was closed overnight for collision investigation and recovery of the vehicle. It was reopened by 09:00 BST on Sunday.

The force wants witnesses or people with dashcam footage to contact them by calling 101.
