A man has been arrested after a 16-year-old boy was sprayed with an unknown substance.

The teenager, who remains in hospital, also suffered slash wounds in the incident at a house in Liverpool at about 19:30 GMT on 28 December, Merseyside Police said.

The force described the attack on Harrow Road in the Anfield area as "targeted" and said tests were continuing to try identify the substance.

A 30-year-old man was held on suspicion of conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm and has been bailed pending further enquiries.
