An indoor play centre where a man fell and later died has partially reopened to families.

David Linyard suffered critical injuries when he fell through the roof of the Play2Day centre in Martlesham Heath, near Ipswich, on 23 June.

He had been carrying out maintenance on the building and subsequently died in hospital from his injuries, owner Britpark Leisure said.

Managing director Ian Parkinson said the centre had reopened at weekends, but would remain closed during the week to allow roof repairs to be completed.

He hoped it would be fully reopened when schools broke up for half-term on 24 October.

"Our thoughts continue to be with the family and friends of the contractor who sadly died from injuries sustained in a fall from the roof in the initial phase of the work in June," Mr Parkinson said.

"[We] would ask that their privacy is respected at this time."

Play2Day was shut on 15 September so authorities could ensure its repairs met regulatory standards.

Police, East Suffolk Council and the Health and Safety Executive have all been investigating Mr Linyard's death.

A file was also sent to the coroner's service for its consideration.
