Residents have been warned to "keep away" after a building collapsed in Brighton.

Brighton & Hove City Council said it had cordoned off the area following the collapse of the Sprabuild Engineering Works, a two-storey building, on Ryde Road.

It urged residents living on Hartington Street, Carisbrooke Street and Ryde Road to avoid their gardens until the site has been made safe.

No casualties have been reported.

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said it sent three fire engines to the scene just after 08:00 BST on Sunday.

Electricity and gas engineers have also attended to isolate supplies to the building.

The council said it would work with firefighters to assess the building further on Monday.
