Third murder arrest after 'devoted father' shot

A third person has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was shot dead in Sheffield.

Emergency services were called to Watery Street near St Philips Road in the Netherthorpe area at about 22:00 BST on 30 September. Kassim Mohammed, 32, was taken to hospital where he later died.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and remains in custody, South Yorkshire Police said.

A 22-year-old man and a 31-year-old woman, who were arrested on suspicion of murder earlier this month, have since been bailed pending further inquiries.

Det Ch Insp Andy Knowles said: "Our priority has remained the same since this investigation was launched - providing answers for Kassim's loved ones and ensuring justice is achieved for them.

"Our thoughts remain with Kassim's family and friends."

Mr Mohammed's family described him as a "devoted young father, a loving son, and a kind, family-orientated man".

They said his death would "leave a void in our hearts that will never be filled".

Det Ch Insp Knowles thanked the local communities for "vital" information provided to the force and appealed for anyone with further details to get in touch.
