People are being urged to "check before they travel" as railway improvement works take place this month.

Network Rail is replacing tracks in the Cheltenham and Worcester areas, affecting Great Western Railway services on 12, 13 and 20 October and until 11:00 BST on 27 October.

Replacement bus services are in operation between Gloucester and Cheltenham Spa, and Worcester Foregate Street.

Buses are also planned to replace CrossCountry trains between Gloucester and Birmingham New Street, and between Cheltenham Spa and Bromsgrove.

GWR customer services director, Rachel Geliamassi, said: “This improvement work forms part of an ongoing programme of maintenance, helping to ensure we can continue to provide consistent and reliable services.

“To keep people moving as quickly and efficiently as we can however, while this work is completed, buses will replace trains and journey times may be a little longer, so please do check before you travel.”
