Overnight road closures as safety work continues
- Published
A number of busy roads in Grimsby are to be closed overnight as part of a £637,000 safety improvement scheme.
Routes around Bargate junction will be shut for a number of nights starting from 28 October.
The closures will be done in phases until 13 November.
Work started in July on the project which includes installing a push-button pedestrian crossing with an island to allow for staggered crossing.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, work was due to be finished this week.
However, work to move gas, electricity and phone lines took longer than expected.
Bad weather and delivery of building supplies also led to delays.
North East Lincolnshire Council has confirmed the overnight closures will occur on weekdays only between 19:00 and 06:00 GMT.
Phase One, from 28 October to 6 November, will see Bargate, Dudley Street, Grosvenor Street, Cartergate, Pelham Road, Deansgate, and the bellmouth of Littlefield Lane shut.
During Phase Two, from 7 November to 13 November, Frederick Ward Way, Church Lane, Wellowgate, Bethlehem Street and Deansgate will be closed.
