Alderney's Policy and Finance Committee (PFC) has chosen an interim head to lead the island following the resignation of its most senior politician.

PFC Deputy Chairman Ian Carter will hold the position of Acting Chairman until his term concludes on 31 December.

Nigel Vooght resigned from his role of chair on Sunday due to what he described as "political infighting" within the government.

Mr Carter said: "Whilst there will always be political differences and robust exchanges within government, it is important that everyone moves forward working collaboratively together in 2025."

The PFC said Mr Carter would provide short-term stability ahead of annual States member appointments at the January States meeting.
