Pub's train time displays are platform for growth

A Bradford pub has been inspired by boozers in King's Cross to install an electronic train timetable in the bar.
The display above the exit doors of the City Vaults displays train times - including if they are delayed or cancelled - for nearby Bradford Interchange and Bradford Forster Square stations.
Owner Kevin Dean said he spotted the devices on a trip to London and decided it was worth doing back home.
"It's a simple idea but the reaction has been brilliant," he said, adding that part of the idea is it will boost business.
Susan Adams, manager of the pub, said it had gone down well with drinkers and that as well as a novelty, there was also a safety aspect.
"People don't want to be waiting especially out on the streets in the dark," she said.
"They want to feel that they're safe and we want to make sure people are getting home safely.
"To know that your train is coming is a good thing - or that it's cancelled and you can have another pint."
Kevin Dunn, who regularly pops in for a pint or two, said: "There are occasions when we're disappearing off to maybe Skipton or Leeds.
"We'll see the train times and if it's late we'll think 'oh, we'll have another pint'.
"And with that information there it might encourage people to come and have a pint before they get their train."
Martyn Willis, who was enjoying a drink when the BBC stopped by, said: "It surely can't hurt, can it?
"Any little thing helps - and it is more interesting than what's on telly, that's for sure."
