A bus firm is shaking up its timetables across north Derbyshire including the launch of new services.

Stagecoach said from 27 October most of its services in the Chesterfield area will have new timetables.

The operator said the changes would improve punctuality and provide more frequent services on the 39 Holme Hall to Chesterfield to Grangewood Farm and 54 Chesterfield to Clay Cross routes, with increased services to Chesterfield Royal Hospital on the 1 and 2 buses.

Three new routes have been created to accommodate the changes.

One new bus route, Service 10, will also begin on a Chesterfield to Newbold circular route.

This new route will replace services 1 and 1a to and from the town centre from Newbold.

Service 38 has also been created by Stagecoach to run through Chesterfield, Ashgate and Green Farm, replacing part of the existing 5 route.

And a new 91 route, between Chesterfield and Yew Tree, will be replacing evening and Sunday buses on 90a and part of the X17 route.

Passengers are advised to check their timetables before travelling as timings and locations of stops served are changing from Sunday.

This includes amending the X17 from Barnsley through Sheffield, Chesterfield, Matlock and Wirksworth to better connect with Derby rail services, and the 583/583a routes rerouting to improve journeys for children using the route for school travel.
