The streets of Coventry could host a round of the 2025 World Rallycross Championship, organisers of a local motoring festival have revealed.

MotoFest Coventry, this year taking place 1-2 June, is a celebration of everything to do with cars and motorbikes.

Organisers said they were in "advanced talks" with the FIA World Rallycross Championship over hosting a street race next year.

A draft layout has been put together using MotoFest's sprint circuit, created from the city's ring road.

Rallycross combines rallying and circuit racing and MotoFest said World RX 2023 runner up Kevin Hansen had provided input on the proposals.

A period of consultation is expected to take place over the next few months.

Plans show the proposed track route

Organisers of MotoFest Coventry said it would be the first street circuit in decades.

"There has been no street circuit in Britain since the days of the Birmingham Superprix, which hosted single-seater, touring car and sportscar competition from 1986 to 1990," they said.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship created a street circuit in Hong Kong in November and said it was keen to "bring the spectacular dual-surface discipline to more city centres".
