A council has confirmed one of its vans was hit in a collision on a guided busway.

A bus driver was cut from his vehicle by fire crews after the collision on the Luton-Dunstable Busway, external, close to Luton Station, at about 12:12 BST on Wednesday.

Luton Council said its engineer was conducting a routine inspection when the incident took place and investigations into what happened were ongoing.

Bus operator Grant Palmer said its driver was taken to hospital but quickly discharged after checks.

A Grant Palmer spokesperson added: "Safety is an absolute priority for us, as it is for Luton Council, so our immediate concern is to ensure all those involved are well, and we will then move on to a stage of review."
