The energy generated by the panels will help power the stadium

Plans to install solar panels on the roof of Bradford City’s Valley Parade stadium have been given the green light.

Renewable energy company SNRG Ltd applied for permission to fit the panels on two sections of the stadium’s roof earlier this year.

The application said the panels would have a 200kWp (kilowatt peak) capacity, and the energy generated would help power the stadium.

Any excess power would be released to the national grid.

Bradford Council has approved the scheme, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

In their conclusions, planning officers said: “The panels will not directly face any neighbouring residential properties which are located at a lower level.

“The impact on the external appearance of the building and the amenity of the area is considered limited, and any significant issues with glare are considered unlikely.”
