A housing association has confirmed it was the victim of a cyber attack.
Connexus, which manages houses in Shropshire and Herefordshire, was unable to confirm whether customers’ details had been leaked from the hack.
A spokesperson said: “We are still working to review what happened. Once we have more exact details we will communicate accordingly.”
They said the incident happened in December.
A post on their Facebook page on 18 December said: “Connexus is currently investigating a security incident involving unauthorised access to its systems.
“As a precautionary measure we have taken our systems offline, to protect your personal data.
“Our IT teams, working alongside relevant agencies, are working to investigate and establish what information may have been accessed and to restore systems quickly.”
They added: “Your safety is our priority, and this includes the safety and integrity of your personal data.
“As with any security incident which may involve personal data, we are asking all customers to remain extremely vigilant, especially when it comes to discussing any financial information with Connexus or any other organisation such as a bank, building society or retailer.”
The company said its phone lines were now back up and running.
