The Aviemore Sled Dog Rally has been held for the 40th - and final - time.
First held in 1984, the event was the biggest of its kind in Britain and held on forest tracks around Loch Morlich in the Cairngorms.
Organisers, the Siberian Husky Club of Great Britain, said it had wanted to end the rally on a high by finishing on the 40th anniversary.
The staging of the event has been hit by rising costs.
Competitor and spectator numbers have also fallen in recent years.
Forty years ago the rally had 12 teams.
It grew to 250 competitors, before later declining to about 70.
The dogs taking part have included Siberian Huskies, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, Greenland Dogs and Canadian Eskimo Dogs.
The final rally was held over the weekend.
