Payphone set for removal after only 13 calls made
- Published
A payphone is to be removed from a town after only 13 calls were made from it within a year.
BT notified residents of Marlow, Buckinghamshire, of its proposal after a planning application was submitted, external to Buckinghamshire Council to remove the payphone on Station Approach.
A 90-day consultation has begun and residents have until 24 July to raise any objections.
In a public notice BT said the phone was not "used enough" for it to continue to be run.
Data accompanying the payphone, which is located outside Marlow Station, recorded that only 13 calls - none of which were to a helpline - were made from it over the course of 12 months.
BT said: "We’re planning to remove this payphone. Unfortunately, it just isn’t used enough for us to carry on running it.
"If you think it should stay, please contact your local authority within 90 days of the date on this notice."
