An ice cream machine manufacturer in Hereford is expanding its headquarters.

Carpigiani UK has received planning permission to build a warehouse to the rear of its Carpigiani House headquarters in Coldnose Road.

The 226-square-metre single-storey building will be used for extra warehouse, parts storage and service space.

The proposals have been approved by Herefordshire Council.

In its application, the firm said the building would help free up space to make better use of the main building and use it as a showroom.

It plans to have a small office space, toilet and kitchenette as well as a "a large open area", with a roller shutter door and an exterior of grey sheeting.

Six new parking spaces will be added alongside it.

The company had addressed concerns raised over surface water drainage from the new building, which will be via an on-site soakaway.

It previously occupied Phantom House on the Straight Mile, formerly Faculty House, now home to a Gregg's bakery and takeaway.

Its current premises also hosts Gelato University sessions to train those looking to make and sell gelato, which uses more milk and less cream than tradition ice cream.
