Plans for a new secondary school and an 850-space multi-storey car park close to Worcestershire Royal Hospital are to go on display.

A new access road is also planned which health and care developer, Prime plc, which is behind the proposals, said would create a new “blue light” route for emergency vehicles to reach the hospital.

The new car park and school would be built on land behind existing hospital staff parking.

The plans can be seen at Lyppard Hub, Ankerage Green, Worcester on 17 July.

Prime said they respond to many of the concerns and opportunities raised during public consultation on the new school last summer.

The company has its own offices nearby and Guy Kippen, and Associate Development Director, said that meant its staff had a "vested interest" in improving traffic links and education in the area, while preserving the natural environment.

Stephen Collman, managing director of Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, said it was "actively exploring a range of options to make it easier for our patients, visitors and staff to park when they come to Worcestershire Royal Hospital".

Speaking about the proposals, he added: "We are keen to take full advantage of any opportunities the school development might offer to improve access and parking at our hospital.”
