Road reopens but car park entrance still restricted

A temporary one-way system put in place on Station Road has now been lifted

A one-way system in place on a busy road near the entrance to Ramsey's largest car park has been lifted early - but motorists have been warned of continued restricted access to the facility.
The works on Station Road, which began on 20 October and were originally due to conclude on Friday, have seen resurfacing of the carriageway.
The Department of Infrastructure (DOI) said while the road itself had now been fully reopened, the entrance to the car park on the road would remain cut off until Monday morning while concrete was re-laid across it.
Access to and from the car park would remain available via the Bircham Avenue entrance, the department said.
The parking area is situated in front of the town's largest Tesco store and is owned by the local authority, Ramsey Commissioners.
The closure of the entrance was necessary to "allow the material to properly cure before being trafficked", the department said.
The DOI previously said the temporary one-way system had been designed to avoid congestion at the adjoining Bowring Road roundabouts.
