The body of Kevin Price, 59, was found at the Garfield Hotel on Springfield Road in the resort on Sunday, Lancashire Police said.

Officers had been responding to a concern for welfare call when they found Mr Price's body, the force said.

Det Ch Insp Simon Pritchard said Mr Price's family had been informed, adding inquiries were "very much ongoing".

He appealed for anyone who might have seen "any suspicious activity" around the hotel between Thursday 7 November and Sunday 10 November to get in touch.

"Please come and speak to us if you have any information at all as what you know could help us piece together the events that led to Kevin’s tragic death," he added.
