The first evening qualifying session for the Manx Grand Prix has been abandoned after a red flag incident 10 minutes in.

Organisers said rider Andy McAllister had been taken to hospital with suspected arm injuries after a crash at the Black Dub in the west of the island.

The road surface could not be cleaned to a sufficient standard in time for the session to continue, they added.

The Isle of Man Constabulary has advised motorists to take extra care when travelling through the area once the roads have reopened.

Evening qualifying sessions are due to continue on Tuesday with roads around the 37.7-mile (61 km) Mountain Course closed each evening until Thursday from 18:00 until no later than 21:00 BST.

Drivers have been warned to expect disruption during the closures and plan for journeys to take longer than usual.

The 2025 events run until 29 August, with the first races due to take place on Saturday in the Manx Grand Prix (MGP) classes.

Friday's scheduled qualifying is due to be run using an afternoon closure, with the evening available as a contingency.

Conversely, contingency sessions have also been put in place for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

The opening session of this year's event took place on Sunday afternoon, with Junior and Senior MGP classes taking to the circuit following a speed-controlled lap for newcomers.
