A man has been found not guilty of a series of charges by reason of insanity after he and two police officers, who had detained him, were hit by a vehicle.

On 12 December Inderpal Bansal, 49, from Sandwell, West Midlands, was arrested after Thames Valley Police were called to a disturbance in Garners Field, Great Bourton, near Banbury, Oxfordshire.

During the incident, an unrelated vehicle hit two officers and Mr Bansal, who were taken to hospital for treatment.

On Wednesday, a jury at Oxford Crown Court cleared Mr Bansal of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, affray, threats to kill and sending communication threatening death or serious harm.
