A woman has been left seriously injured after her car overturned and crashed on a major road.

She was driving a black Mini on the A1 at Eaton Socon, Cambridgeshire, when the crash happened on Thursday afternoon.

The 23-year-old, from Northampton, was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital.

Police said a Toyota driver from Milton Keynes who was involved in the collision was helping with inquiries.

They have appealed for any witnesses to the incident, which happened at 17:00 BST, to contact them.

Sgt Mark Atkins, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire road policing unit, said dashcam footage captured before or during the crash would help.

The accident resulted in the A1 southbound carriageway being shut "for a considerable amount of time", he said.
