Some hospitals in the West are asking everyone to wear surgical face masks in certain areas. North Bristol NHS Trust says this is due to a reported sharp rise in flu and respiratory diseases seen on the wards. You can read more on the story here.

Yate Rugby Club says it's moving to a pitch in the centre of the athletics arena in the town. And Tetbury Cricket Club has received a £50,000 grant from the ECB, which is earmarked to improve it facilities.

The seafront amusement arcade in Burnham-on-Sea is getting a revamp as it is under new ownership. It is also set to revert back to the name Sunspot Amusements, according to Burnham-on-Sea.com.

A kebab van in Bradley Stoke – which has been operating in the area for 17 years - has been granted permission to trade at "a busy junction", despite half a dozen objections to it.

And roadworks are set to start near New Canal and High Street from January 20, says the Salisbury Journal. It will mean the closure of certain areas from 19:00 until midnight.
