A man has been arrested after a car crashed into the River Soar in Leicester in the early hours.

Leicestershire Police said it received reports a vehicle had gone into the water near Western Boulevard at 03:15 GMT on Friday.

All four occupants were out of the car when officers arrived and no life-threatening or life-changing injuries were reported, the force added.

An 18-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in custody, police said.

Western Boulevard, between Coriander Road and Tarragon Road, was closed while the car was recovered but has since reopened.
