Girl, 6, dies after being struck by Range Rover

A six-year-old girl has died after she was struck by a Range Rover on a road in Greater Manchester.

The child was hit on Ashfield Road in Rochdale at about 17:35 BST on Monday, police said.

She suffered serious injuries and died at the scene.

No arrests have been made and the driver of the Range Rover remained at the scene.

Greater Manchester Police appealed for witnesses or anyone with relevant video footage to come forward.

Det Con Thomas Johnson said officers' thoughts were with the girl's family, who were being supported.
