Body found at site of house fire in Highlands

Police say a man's body has been found at the site of a house fire in Assynt.

Firefighters from Ullapool, Achiltibuie and Durness were called to the property in Drumbeg, in the north west Highlands, at about 16:20 on Wednesday.

Police said the body was found after the fire was extinguished.

Fire crews left the scene at about 22:30.

Police Scotland said the man's next of kin had been contacted.

A spokesperson said: "The death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."

Drumbeg is a small community about 40 miles north of Ullapool.
