A rapist who subjected his victim to repeated sexual, physical and verbal abuse has been jailed for nine years.
Paul Gilbert, 44, was found guilty of seven offences committed between 2013 and 2023 in Moray and Inverness, including rape and assault to the danger of life.
Gilbert, formerly of Nairn, was jailed at the High Court in Edinburgh.
The judge, Lord Cubie, told Gilbert his offending culminated in a "horrific attack" which happened after he sexually assaulted the woman in Moray in 2023.
Gilbert repeatedly punched his victim on the head, causing her to lose consciousness. He also poured alcohol on her, to her injury and the danger of her life.
Defence counsel Alistair Sloan said: "He is aware these are very serious matters and the court will have no option but to impose a lengthy custodial sentence."
The judge said: "There is no remorse, no understanding, only self pity at the consequences for you."
Lord Cubie ordered that following his jail term Gilbert should be supervised in the community for a further two years and can be returned to prison if he breaches conditions.
Gilbert was placed on the sex offenders register indefinitely.
