A man has been charged with criminal damage after a mural designed to deter vandalism was vandalised.
Jon Clifton, 18, of Nine Elms, Swindon, was charged on 9 November - just two days after the mural on a block of public toilets in Royal Wootton Bassett was unveiled.
He has been released on bail on the condition he does not enter the town, and is due to appear at Swindon Magistrates' Court on 27 November.
The mural, created by schoolchildren and volunteers over the half term, was designed to deter people from vandalising the block of toilets.
The toilets had previously been targeted by vandals who spray painted walls and broke doors, but it was hoped the colourful artwork would prevent further damage.
However, within days, the mural had been splashed with grey paint.
Repairs on the mural have since started.
