Police have warned islanders to lock their cars when not using them and remove valuables, after recent reports of unlocked cars being searched.

The force said a number of unlocked cars in St Saviour had been entered during the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Officers asked anyone with CCTV overlooking Le Frie Baton Road and Le Courtil Michele to check their footage from about 03:00 BST and notify police if they see anything suspicious.

A spokesperson said: "Unfortunately, this serves as a timely reminder for vehicles island wide to be kept locked when not in use and for any valuables to be removed overnight."
