Firefighters who tackled a large blaze at a former tea factory are continuing to assess the damage.

Eight fire engines were deployed as huge plumes of black smoke billowed out of the former Typhoo Tea factory in Wirral at about 17:50 BST on Tuesday.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service (MFRS) warned people to avoid the area surrounding the derelict building on Pasture Road in Moreton. Nearby residents and businesses were advised to close windows and doors.

After the fire was extinguished, MFRS deployed a drone to survey the former factory's main roof.
