Worcester City 10K and half marathon: What you need to know

About 5,000 runners will take part over the weekend in events that include the Worcester City 10K and half marathon.

Entries are closed for this year, the Worcester City Runs website said.

Fun family relay event Paula Radcliffe's Families on Track will also return on Saturday at Worcester Racecourse.

The 10k, half marathon and junior run will take place on Sunday, but what are the main considerations for runners and for those in the city not taking part? Here are key points about the weekend.

What is happening and when?

The Sutcliffe & Co Worcester City Runs Weekend will return on Saturday, with Families on Track, external starting at the racecourse at 11:00 BST.

As a team, people will complete loops of various distances as a relay to add up to 10km.

Organisers said there was plenty of on-site parking and each family group could be three, four or five people.

There are three laps of varying distances - 1km, 500m and 250m - on an enclosed course and participants can run in any order and run any distance as long as they eventually complete 10km.

On Sunday, the junior run will return at 08:45, the 10k, external at 09:15 and the half marathon, external from 09:40.

There is ample city centre parking, organiser Events of the North has said.

A number of roads will be closed from 08:00 BST on Sunday

Which roads will be closed?

A number of roads will close from 05:00 until 16:00 on Sunday, with others shutting from 08:00 or 08:30 and reopening between 11:15 and 13:30, the city council said.

More than 30 roads affected have been listed on its website, external.

These include, from 08:00 to 11:30, New Road, near the Worcestershire county cricket ground, which is also due to host the One Day Cup Women League 2 final on the same day.

Glamorgan Women will take on Yorkshire Women from 10:30.

For Worcester City Runs on Sunday, all races start and finish on Croft Road.

Croft Road, and Netherton Court via Hive Bollards, and Grandstand Road will be affected between 05:00 and 16:00.

Where should I park and assemble?

There is limited free car parking at the racecourse and adjacent areas, but there will be no entry or exit between 08:00 and 12:30 on to Castle Street.

There are an additional two car parks within a mile of the racecourse: Crowngate Shopping Centre Car Park (not accessible between 08:00 and 13:30) and St Martins Gate Car Park, but charges apply on a Sunday.

Cars left on the race route when the road closures are put in place will get a fine.

Organisers have called on runners to assemble next to timing flags along Croft Road towards the racecourse at least 15 minutes before the start.

People have been asked to ensure they stand next to the correct race pacers - identifiable by their bibs - relating to their estimated finish time.

Water will be available at the finish and on the course, while toilets will be provided at the start and finish areas, as well as along the course.

Secure baggage facilities will be in gazebos in the event village, with access from 07:45.

Race information is in the village in the Cattle Market car park and will open from 07:30.
