A pedestrian has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a crash.

Dorset Police were called at 13:47 BST after a woman in her 70s, from Poole, was hit by a red Jeep Compass on the A35 at Kingston Pond in Dorchester.

Officers temporarily closed the usually busy road but have confirmed it has now fully reopened.

The driver of the car was not injured in the crash and officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to get in contact.
