Community caretakers have tackled more than 100 repair jobs since their scheme launched at the end of the summer.

The 16-strong group in Middlesbrough started work in August to help tackle essential repairs and maintenance in the town.

Neighourhood caretaker Adam Ineson said the team had a warm welcome from the community, with one of their latest projects seeing them paint fences and equipment in Saltwells Park.

Middlesbrough Mayor Chris Cooke said work at the park was an example of what communities in the town could expect to see over the coming weeks and months.

Mr Ineson said: "The response from local residents has been really positive, so it's nice to be able to address their concerns directly."

The Labour-run council said the team had a full programme of work lined up for the coming months.
