A man has combined his love of both art and baked goods by transforming a table into a giant bourbon biscuit.

Carl Jones, from Eckington, Worcestershire, took on the project after he spotted the solid wood table being offered up for free Facebook.

He told the BBC: "The dimensions of the top, to me, randomly just screamed bourbon biscuit."

Mr Jones, who works as a transporter for a local car dealership, originally planned to paint the table before deciding to take it to "another level".

But he did not realise quite how big the table was until he picked it up.

“It’s about a metre and a half long and it’s very, very heavy,” he said.

Mr Jones carved the name of the sugary snack into the wood, as well as replicating the steam holes used to stop the biscuit cracking during the baking process.

He used his knowledge of colour matching – gained in a previous job as a signwriter – to get the table as close as possible to the original biscuit.

He also sought inspiration from elsewhere, going through nearly 50 bourbon biscuits during the creation of his masterpiece.

Mr Jones told BBC Hereford & Worcester that he was already planning his next project, but was waiting until he found a suitably sized table.

He said: “Who doesn’t love a custard cream?”
