Plans to build a £1m village hall in Knutton, Newcastle-under-Lyme are set to be approved.

The new community facility, to be built on the former site of Knutton Recreation Centre, would include two function rooms, a bar, a kitchen and toilets.

Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council proposed the village hall as part of a wider £3.5m masterplan to transform the area using government funding.

The hall would replace Knutton’s community centre, which closed in 2020 because of concerns over the condition of the building.

A planning application for the village hall has now been recommended for approval by planning officers at the borough council.

The local authority is proposing to bring in a community organisation to run the village hall once it is built.

Planning committee members will discuss the application when they meet next Tuesday.
