A39 reopens after dangerous building closure
- Published
A road in Cornwall has reopened after it was shut due to structural concerns over a dangerous building.
Businesses on Fore Street in Camelford had said they were losing trade due to the closure on the A39.
The road reopened at 17:00 BST on Friday as the building "no longer poses a risk to the public", Cornwall Council said.
MP for North Cornwall Ben Maguire, Liberal Democrat, said it was "fantastic news for people and businesses in Camelford".
Mr Maguire said: “It shouldn’t have taken local businesses and me as the local MP shouting from the rooftops to get Cornwall Council to start communicating properly with people in Camelford and to look at all options to get the road reopened instead of letting the closure rumble on for months and months."
A spokesperson for Cornwall Council said the owner of the building had "undertaken works to ensure the building no longer poses a risk to the public".
