Police are urging people to remain vigilant after three stag statues were stolen

Surrey Police are warning people with bronze statues outside their properties to “be on their guard” after three stags were stolen from a garden in Wrecclesham, Waverley.

Officers said it would have required up to four people to move the three bronze-plated stags from the victim’s property.

There have been a spate of similar thefts across Surrey and Sussex, say police.

The homeowner is now “beefing up” security to prevent criminals striking again.

'Feeling of despair'

Police security suggestions include installing forensic marking systems, alarm systems and pressure pads around homes.

The owner of the stag sculptures said: “It’s hard to explain the feeling of despair when people invade your property and the damage they cause with intent to steal.”

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
