Long delays on the M25 after the crash have now eased

Delays have now eased after a car collided with a roadworks lorry on the clockwise carriageway M25 near Heathrow.

The motorway was closed while Surrey Police carried out an investigation into the incident, which happened about 04:30 BST on Wednesday.

National Highways has confirmed that the motorway reopened at 15:30, with traffic no longer being diverted at the junction 14 slip road.

While the long delays have cleared there is still some congestion in the approach to junction 13.

A spokesperson for South Coast Ambulance Service (Secamb) said they were called to reports of a crash between a car and lorry near M25 junction 14 shortly after 04:45.

They added London Ambulance Service and South Central Ambulance Service were also at the scene.

"A patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to St Mary's Hospital in London for further medical treatment," they said.

Heathrow Airport said the crash was not affecting operations, with traffic flowing and the airport operating as normal.
